Drop the Beat - AirPlay speakers

Inspiration
I think product development and industrial design in general has a lot to learn from nature and its wisdom . This project is based on a natural phenomenon that we all are familiar to. A drop of water hitting the surface and creating a natural cone. The water ripple effect.
The theory of technical function
The cylinder is basically a sound box which has a speaker inside pointed downwards. The sound waves are forced down in to the cone that makes them bounce off its surface. Every wave touches the cone with unique angles which gives the listener the freedom to move and dance while listening.
Handcrafting
The prototyping needed a couple of different operations, mainly milling, turning and surface grinding. Real speaker elements were inserted to achieve the important touch of reality. Finally the speakers were also spray painted and coated.
